MISSOURI PUBLIC TRANSIT ASSOCIATION ELECTS FERGUSON OF KCATA AS NEW BOARD MEMBER

The Missouri Public Transit Association (MPTA)—the state’s transit advocacy organization—has named Chuck Ferguson, chief operating officer and interim president and CEO for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA), as its newest board member. He will serve a two-year term.

Ferguson was named chief operating officer in October 2022 and oversees all on-street fixed-route passenger services, fleet and facilities maintenance, scheduling, training and security. He has also been serving as interim president and CEO since February 2026. He brings more than 30 years of public transit experience, including leadership roles in operations, planning and marketing. Throughout his career, he has helped shape regional initiatives across the Kansas City area and played a key role in developing the RideKC brand.

Since first joining KCATA in 1990, Ferguson has led and supported major corridor studies, regional service plans, capital projects and community partnerships. He has also been instrumental in delivering large-scale transit operations for nationally recognized events, including the Kansas City Royals World Series Victory Parade and multiple Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory parades.

This is especially important as we work to secure critical state funding for transit providers.”
