KC Streetcar, in partnership with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) and the City of Kansas City, is conducting a feasibility study to extend the streetcar east from Main Street to the 18th & Vine District. This study will assess route options, transit demand, and facilitate public engagement to support future planning for the 18th & Vine District. The official study area includes Wyandotte Street to Woodland Avenue, and 17th Street to 20th Street.
The first public meeting for the 18th & Vine Streetcar Feasibility Study was held on February 3, 2026, at the Keystone CoLAB, and covered topics including:
- Background on the study, purpose and need, and project timeline
- Two different streetcar alignment options
- Screening criteria used to evaluate the alignment options
- Opportunities, challenges, and vision for the 18th Street corridor

An online survey is open to receive feedback until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, February 27. The online survey is available here.
The feasibility study officially kicked off on Monday, September 22, 2025, with the first Oversight Advisory Committee (OAC) meeting. The OAC is made up of 18th Street stakeholders including neighborhood leaders, business owners, cultural stewards, and public officials.
This first meeting brought committee members together to learn what this study entails, including the project schedule, and started important conversations about the community’s goals. You can view the presentation that was shared at the meeting here.
