Southeast Missouri Transportation Service, Inc. (SMTS) recently broke ground at the former Missouri State Highway Patrol building site in Park Hills, MO, marking the start of a major remodel and expansion to strengthen transit service across St. Francois County and beyond.
The project includes renovating the existing 3,795-square-foot building to add office space, a training area, drivers’ lounge, kitchen, and light vehicle maintenance areas. A 202-square-foot storage building will also be upgraded. In addition, a new 160-foot covered parking structure will be built, featuring a wash bay, vacuum, and electrical service to support vehicle charging, maintenance, and fleet security.
Once complete, the Park Hills facility will serve as a central hub for SMTS training and operations, advancing the agency’s mission to provide door-to-door transportation for medical appointments, shopping, and social needs throughout 21 counties in southeast and south-central Missouri.
