MPTA Education Series highlighted the requirements for the new PTASP rule (49 C.F.R. Part 673) on March 3 in St. Joseph, MO. FTA Region VII’s William Kalt reviewed plan requirements and led a roundtable discussion on questions. MoDOT also provided information for those participating on the state plan. Key takeaways included: formalization of safety measures that are most likely already in place, resources available to MPTA members needing assistance completing their plans, and MoDOT assistance to complete the plan for transit agencies.
The event was held at the Remington Nature Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. After the presentation participants had an opportunity to tour the St. Joseph Transit Center. Chance Gallagher, Director of the City of St. Joseph – Transit, discussed agency’s future plans of updating bus stops in the area in phases with solar-powered LED lit bus stops, toured the new bus wash stop and the newest bus added to the fleet.
