Transit advocates from across Missouri headed to the Capitol this week for Transportation Day to talk about the need for investment in transit in MO.
MODOT presented its budget in both the House and Senate and received numerous questions from committee members. Under Governor Greitens’ budget recommendations, MODOT saw a significant cut in the general revenue for many of its programs.
Part of the recommended cuts by Governor Greitens included the $500,000 in general revenue for state transit assistance. MODOT and the Governor both recommended state transportation funds continue to be used to fund transit in the same amount as last year. MEHTAP funding remains the same as last year at $2,468,607. The House subcommittee will now begin its work on the budget. Once completed the entire House Budget Committee will review the subcommittee recommendations.
