Mo-Kan Regional Council (MKRC) is currently working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to update the Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan, a regional plan that will affect transit services for elderly, low-income, and disabled citizens in Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, and DeKalb counties. In an attempt to gather input from public transit users for the plan, MKRC has scheduled several informal public meetings through the region during the months of September and October.

The schedule is as follows:

– September 18, 11:00 AM at the Andrew County Senior Center located at 101 S. 4th St. in Savannah;

– September 27, 12:00 PM at the DeKalb County Nutrition Center located at 109 N. Polk St. in Maysville;

– October 2, 12:30 PM at the Cameron Nutrition Center located at 315 E. Third St. in Cameron;

– October 4, 10:30 AM at the Mo-Kan Regional Council located at 224 N. 7th St. in St. Joseph.

These meetings are intended to be informal and are meant to gather input from senior, disabled, and other citizens who rely on public transportation. All those interested in providing input to the plan or assisting MKRC in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of transit services in the region are invited to attend. If you are unable to attend one of the meetings but would like to provide input, please contact Megan Carroll at 816-233-3144 to have a survey mailed or emailed to you.

Mo-Kan Regional Council is a bi-state planning commission that provides assistance to local governments by seeking out solutions for local and regional issues and meeting local needs on a regional basis. MKRC joins together a six-county area, including Atchison and Doniphan counties in Kansas and Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, and DeKalb counties in Missouri. For more information, visit www.mo-kan.org.
