2011 Survey of State Funding for Public Transportation

Please see the link below for the 2011 Survey of State Funding for Public Transportation. This includes the most updated data from the states and how much each state funded public transportation for the 2009 fiscal year. As revealed in the survey, states and local governments are committing more than 50 percent of the funding for the nation’s public transportation. Also, states spent approximately $13.1 billion on transit in FY 2009 which is an increase of $5.6 billion over the FY 2000 level of $7.5 billion.

The Survey (and all State Funding for Public Transportation surveys from the past three years) can be found on the SCOPT/MTAP web sites at: http://scopt.transportation.org/Pages/MTAPPublications.aspx

The data was collected, analyzed and prepared this year by June Jones of East Mesa, LLC on behalf of the AASHTO Standing Committee on Public Transportation. As has been the case for the past few years, all 50 states completed the survey.
