CMT releases STEP by STEP guide to the TEN TOE EXPRESS

From CMT newsletter:

Citizens for Modern Transit recently announced the availability of a new implementation guide for their “Ten Toe Express” program.

The program guide – called Step by Step to the Ten Toe Express – outlines the steps needed to start a new “Ten Toe Express” program.  The program itself encourages seniors to combine walking with public transportation to visit cultural and historic sites – a fun, novel form of exercise.  The guide is aimed at professionals who create programs for older adults and is designed to be readily adaptable to many locations and budgets.

The Ten Toes Express program is unique because it allows senior citizens to socialize, see parts of town they haven’t visited before, and learn to use public transportation – all while getting a healthy dose of exercise.  The guide illustrates how to implement this program so that seniors may enjoy the benefits of this program all across the country.

The program guide is ideal for YMCA directors, church and synagogue program directors, senior centers or independent living facilities, social workers, public health professionals, and anyone that works directly with seniors.
