Save the Date: Transit Tuesdays at the State Capitol

The Missouri Public Transit Association (MPTA) is teaming up with transit providers, stakeholders, Citizens for Modern Transit, and other interested citizens from across the state in Jefferson City for Transit Tuesdays during the 2026 Legislative Session.

Transportation is the key to moving Missouri forward, and there is an opportunity in the 2026 Legislative Session to underscore the importance of public transit especially in light of the cuts to funding in 2025, a 42 percent reduction in state transit assistance.

Transit Tuesdays will include the following dates at the State Capitol in Jefferson City:

  • February 24, 2026
  • March 31, 2026
  • April 28, 2026

MPTA will be available to help set up meetings with legislators and will provide information on any hearings related to transit. We strongly encourage participants to attend any hearings that day related to transit, and visit with their respective legislators on the importance of transit and total transportation funding in Missouri.

We hope you will consider joining MPTA in our efforts by attending Transit Tuesdays in 2026. Now is the time to reverse course on last year’s funding reduction and put transit funding back on track in 2026. We have heard from legislators that they do not think transit is a priority for people in Missouri because they are not hearing it is a priority from their constituents. We hope to see you in 2026.

Please let us know that you’ll be in attendance with us at the Capitol!

More details will be forthcoming for each day as we get closer to the 2026 Missouri Legislative Session.  RSVPs can be sent to  kcella@mopublictransit.org.
