FTA Announces $1.5 Billion in Programmatic Funding for Buses

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has announced $1.5 billion in funding to aid state and local efforts to modernize transit fleets through low- and no-emission buses, the renovation and construction of bus facilities, and to support workforce development. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is for two programs, the FTA’s Low or No Emission (Low-No) Program and the FTA’s Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program.

The Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program assists transit agencies in buying and rehabilitating buses, vans, and related equipment, as well as building bus facilities. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provides nearly $2 billion through 2026 for the program, and for Fiscal Year 2024, approximately $390 million in grants is authorized.
