Safety & Security Top Concerns for KC Streetcar as Agency Launches See Say App

The Kansas City Streetcar Authority has launched the See Say app, a new safety and incident reporting tool designed to give riders a fast, discreet way to report non-emergency issues while using the streetcar system, per Mass Transit. Available on smartphones, the app allows users to anonymously submit reports, upload photos and share details about safety concerns, maintenance issues or general comments. Riders can also submit reports via text message or an online portal. While emergencies should still be reported by calling emergency services, the app provides a direct line of communication with KC Streetcar staff for quicker responses to everyday concerns.

Once a report is received, dispatchers review the information and coordinate the appropriate response by directing security personnel or maintenance crews to the reported location. KC Streetcar officials say detailed information, including photos, locations and descriptions, helps staff assess situations more efficiently and respond more effectively. The agency views the app as another step toward improving rider experience by making the system safer, cleaner and more responsive to customer needs.

The launch of the See Say app comes as KC Streetcar continues to experience significant growth in both ridership and system expansion. Since opening the Main Street Extension in October 2025 and the Riverfront Extension in May 2026, the streetcar’s security team has more than doubled in size to support increased demand. Average weekday ridership climbed from approximately 4,160 passenger trips before the Main Street Extension to more than 13,500 daily trips in June 2026, underscoring the need for additional tools that help maintain a safe and welcoming transit environment as the system continues to grow.
