Ridership on the KC Streetcar reached a historic new milestone in June, setting an all-time monthly record as Kansas City continues to embrace the expanded transit system. For the first time, the KC Streetcar recorded more than 600,000 passenger trips in a single month, with a total of 698,705 trips. By comparison, the streetcar provided 162,057 passenger trips in June 2025, when service operated exclusively on the original 2.2-mile downtown route.
The three highest ridership days in June 2026 were:
- Friday, June 19: 41,112 trips
- Saturday, June 20: 41,398 trips
- Saturday, June 27: 48,260 trips
The average daily ridership in June was 23,290 trips while the average daily ridership for FIFA Fan Festival days in June was 34,139 trips. While FIFA Fan Fest at the National World War I Museum & Memorial generated significant streetcar ridership, with over 130,000 trips being provided to and from FIFA Fan Fest, travel data shows that approximately 75% of all June trips were to and from other destinations along the route, including the City Market, Power & Light District, Country Club Plaza, and the Riverfront. This reflects strong, systemwide demand across the expanded KC Streetcar line.
“Record ridership, and the fact that 75% of trips occurred outside the FIFA Fan Festival zone, demonstrate that our expanded streetcar alignment is delivering lasting value, with improved connectivity benefiting residents, businesses, and visitors across the city,” said Tom Gerend, Executive Director, KC Streetcar Authority.
