Joplin’s Sunshine Lamp Trolley is set to return to service on February 3, 2025. Operating hours will be Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. Fare will be priced at $2, with reduced fare priced at $1. Veterans and military members, as well as those with disabilities, ages 60+, and those receiving Medicare will qualify for the reduced fare. The city will offer the same three fixed trolley routes that were previously offered, and transfers will be free with a pass.
The Sunshine Lamp Trolley closed more than two years ago due to a lack of both drivers and dispatchers. Once the service reopens in February, Joplin residents will once again be able to use the service for their work commute, to run errands and attend appointments, or for personal errands.
The City of Joplin is working on cleaning shelters and installing new signage in preparation for the service relaunch. Additional information, including a route map, can be found here.
