The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) celebrated the groundbreaking of two Transit-Oriented Community Development (TOCD) projects in December 2024. In recent years, KCATA has championed TOCD, emphasizing the community-oriented approach that KCATA seeks to take as these development projects get underway.
- Arrive KC will be a six-story, 373-apartment complex situated along the southern KC Streetcar extension. The project is being led by NorthPoint Development.
- The Mohawk will include 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail with 189 residential rental units above. The parking garage will incorporate a transit-hub to connect residents and shoppers to the area transit connector. The project is being led by Grayson Capital through KCATA’s START Bond program.
“ArriveKC is going to be a great example of how KC can benefit from transit-oriented community development,” said KCATA CEO Frank White III, “Housing and transportation are the two largest expenses people face, which places a heavy burden on families. Not only do projects like ArriveKC help residents to get more from every dollar by making access to public transportation easy and convenient, they also bring added vitality to neighborhoods in our city.”
