The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA), which serves two states and seven counties, has announced an increase in monthly ridership. KCATA’s monthly ridership in October 2024 reached 1,101,018, an improvement of 3.4% over 2023 and a new four-year high.
KCATA works hard to provide safe, reliable service. Some recent improvements they have made to create a better transit system include:
- The purchase of 10 new bus shelters with a graffiti-resistant coating,
- A partnership with local college students to develop solutions to real-world design challenges,
- Preparing for winter by completing equipment preparations and material inventory,
- Lowering operating costs through an update to a new, more efficient paratransit software.
