KC Streetcar

Groundbreaking Set for KC Streetcar Riverfront Expansion on March 1

A groundbreaking is set for Friday, March 1 at Riverfront Drive and Berkley Plaza to mark the start of construction for the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension.

The KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension will connect the streetcar line at 3rd and Grand to Berkley Riverfront Park, steps away from CPKC Stadium.

The extension will be approximately 0.7 miles in length and is made possible through a combination of $35.2 million in federal funding and $25.9 million in local funding.

Project partners Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA), Kansas City Streetcar Authority (KCSA), PortKC, and the City of Kansas City, MO will welcome the public to the site. After the ceremony at 10 AM, the public is welcome to attend a community open house at the Port KC Office, which will give residents, businesses, and stakeholders the opportunity to interact with the construction team, project leaders, and learn more about the plans for the project.
