Governor Mike Parson signed Executive Order 23-01 in January 2023, which called for the establishment of a statewide Master Plan on Aging. There are presently more than 1.1 million Missouri citizens that are over the age of 60, and the MO Master Plan on Aging will help ensure they can age with dignity. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is charged with developing the plan by December 31, 2025.
One of the goals of the Missouri Master Plan on Aging is that Missourians will have access to safe and reliable transportation and mobility options so they can get to the places they need or desire to go. As the population continues to age, it will become critical for the infrastructure to be in place that will allow seniors to access medical appointments, run errands, and visit family and friends.
Several goals have been set with regards to transportation and transit access. Consider weighing in on the importance of transportation as a part of the plan moving forward at an upcoming meeting in your area.
