US House to Consider FY24 Transportation Bill

Following last week’s aversion of a partial federal government shutdown, the US House is expected to take up the FY24 Transportation Bill this month with estimates it may be as early as next week.  The House Appropriations Committee on July 18 approved the $90.2 billion fiscal 2024 transportation measure, which also includes funding for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The bill would provide $62 billion for the Federal Highway Administration, $19.5 billion for the Federal Aviation Administration, $14.6 billion for the Federal Transit Administration, $1.4 billion for the Federal Railroad Administration and $1.2 billion for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Over the summer, the Senate Approprirations Committee approved their fiscal 2024 version of the bill. The Senate’s $98.9 billion for the departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development would dedicate $16.8 billion for FTA.
