Bus Crush 2020 (1)

Calling All Poets and Lovers of Transit

This Valentine’s Day, Missouri Public Transit Association (MPTA) wants to know about your Bus Crush! MPTA is encouraging Missouri residents to express why they love public transit in a poem through the “Bus Crush” social media campaign. Riders that would like to enter the “Bus Crush” poetry contest should write up their best love poems about why they love public transit and send it in to MPTA.  The winning poem and poet will be featured by CMT and will also reap the benefits with free tickets, a gift card and transit schwag.

“Some Missourians rely on public transit to get to work, to gain access to much-needed goods and services, to save money, to get to school or as a more convenient means to get to games, or concerts,” said Kimberly Cella, executive director of MPTA. “Whatever reason you are crushing on transit – we want to help you share your love. And, possibly reap even more rewards.”

From Saturday, Feb. 1, until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, individuals can visit MPTA’s Facebook page and post the love poem for public transit to reveal their “Bus Crush.” Those interested can also Tweet to MPTA using the handle @MOPublicTransit. Including a photo of yourself utilizing public transit is strongly encouraged, and be sure to use #LoveInMotion or #IHeartTransit when posting.

Those who post to one or more of these sites during the two-week campaign time-frame will have their name entered to win the poetry contest. All entries will be shared on the MPTA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts on Monday, Feb. 17, at noon.  The three most liked and shared poems will then be determined, and those individuals will win prizes.

This campaign is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook or Twitter. Winners will be notified via social media. MPTA will also be using the campaign period to raise public awareness about the benefits of public transportation as it relates to individuals, businesses, economic development and more. Any entry can be removed or rejected at any time for any reason.
