A Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) has been issued by the Federal Transit Administration for Solicitation of Project Proposals for the Integrated Mobility Innovation (IMI) Demonstration program. The FTA’s IMI 2019 funding opportunity provides $15 million for demonstration projects focused on three areas of interest: Mobility on Demand, Strategic Transit Automation Research and Mobility Payment Integration, to:
- Explore new business approaches and technology solutions that support mobility
- Enable communities to adopt innovative mobility solutions that enhance transportation efficiency and effectiveness
- Facilitate the widespread deployment of proven mobility solutions that expand personal mobility

Summary: The Integrated Mobility Innovation Demonstration program’s primary purpose is to fund projects that demonstrate innovative, effective approaches, practices, partnerships, and technologies to enhance public transportation effectiveness, increase efficiency, expand quality, promote safety, and improve the traveler’s experience. This NOFO integrates three distinct areas of inquiry: Mobility on Demand (MOD) and Sandbox demonstrations; FTA’s Strategic Transit Automation Research (STAR); and Mobility Payment Integration (MPI) to allow applicants to comprehensively plan multiple areas of mobility research.
Eligible Applicants: providers of public transportation, including public transportation agencies, state/local government DOTs, and federally recognized Indian tribes.

Dates: An applicant must submit a proposal electronically by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on 08/06/2019. Any agency intending to apply should initiate the process of registering on the GRANTS.GOV site immediately to ensure completion of registration before the submission deadline.
