Alphapointe President and CEO Reinhard Mabry along with Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) President and CEO Robbie Makinen are hosting a ceremonial signing for the acquisition of land that will be used to complete the Prospect MAX bus rapid transit line today. The KCATA will be completing the purchase of a 1.8-acre parcel of land on the northwest side of Alphapointe’s property located at 75th Street and Prospect.
“This is more than just putting four tires on the street. This is about community development and economic development along the corridor,” said KCATA President and CEO Robbie Makinen. “We’re going to bring state-of-the-art technology that will set us apart from other transit agencies in the country. We’re excited and Kansas City will be too when they hear what’s coming.”
KCATA currently operates two MAX BRT lines – Main Street MAX opened in 2005 and Troost Avenue MAX opened in 2011. Both routes have positively impacted the community with:
- Improved jobs access
- Streetscape improvements
- Transit-related economic development
- Improved safety
- Public artwork
The Prospect MAX Expansion is currently in the construction phase and has a target completion/startup date of 2020.
This event was held on March 23rd at 10 AM in the Cafeteria of Aphapointe, located at 7501 Prospect, Kansas City, MO 64132.
