2018 MPTA Annual Conference – Call for Proposals

The 2018 MPTA Annual Conference will be held:

  • September 19-21, 2018
  • Holiday Inn Executive Center, Columbia, MO

 

The DEADLINE for Conference Proposals is FEBRUARY 1, 2018

 

The Missouri Public Transit Association invites proposal submissions for conference sessions and workshops for the 2018 MPTA Annual Conference.  The purpose of the conference is to Elevate the status of transit in Missouri, Strengthen existing coalitions and Build new coalitions to expand Missouri transit’s advocacy base, and to promote and support MPTA members.  Proposals should aim to further this mission. Sponsorship opportunities exist for those with services, programs or products available on the market to assist in this effort.

The theme of this year’s conference is “GROWING WITH TRANSIT.”  Submissions relevant to this theme, and to other subthemes relevant to the conference mission are also welcome.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL

  • Indicate the type of session format for which you are submitting a proposal. For example,
    • panel discussion
    • workshop
    • presentation
    • other
  • Proposals must demonstrate that at least 15 minutes are incorporated for discussion and interaction. Panels should not be “talking heads” but rather allow sufficient time for adequate discussion and exchange between all in attendance.
  • We will give preference to sessions that include multiple institutions and diverse perspectives.
  • Regional diversity, including perspectives from both rural and more urban organizations or areas, will be favored.
  • Sessions should focus on lessons learned, challenges and issues encountered and how those were addressed.

 

REQUIRED INFORMATION FOR THE PROPOSAL

A. Identification and biography

  • Session Title, Short Summary of Session proposed
  • Name, Contact Details, and Biography of Moderator or Chair
  • Names, Contact Details, and Biographies of proposed speakers
  • Anticipated audio-visual needs

 

B. Additional Comments
The session chair will serve as the key contact on the session and is responsible for communicating all session information and details with presenters.

 

** IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SESSION PROPOSERS 
• Should the proposal be selected, the abstract and bios submitted will be printed in the conference program as submitted
• Please pay very careful attention to the exact format, language and word limitation required: no more than 75 words for the abstract and for the bio.
• Biographies may include presenters’ positions and major work accomplishments relevant to the presenter’s session topic.
• The biography should be written in the third person, and consist of full sentences.
