The Federal Transit Administration highlighted transit successes in Missouri at the MPTA 36th Annual Meeting in Springfield this week. Mohktee Ahmad, FTA Region VII Director, and his staff presented several MO transit providers with awards highlighting the increase in ridership for each of their service areas.
Under the Rural Public Transit category, Mississippi County Transit was recognized for a 47 percent increase in ridership. In addition, Licking Bridge Builders received an Award of Excellence in the Rural Public Transit Provider category for a 77 percent increase in ridership on their system.
The City of Joplin was recognized for ridership on the Sunshine Lamp Trolley with increased ridership of more than 4,300 rides (3%). Tying with the City of Joplin, COMO Connect (Columbia) also saw a 3 percent increase in ridership (48,251 riders).
