METRO BUSES BEGIN TO EXPERIENCE DELAYS; SHARE-A-FARE IN PHASE A

(Kansas City, Mo. – Feb. 4, 2014) 10:30 A.M. – Metro buses are currently using regular routes, but some routes are running with delays after a smooth morning rush hour. Out of 117 buses on the road at this time, 17 buses are running 7 – 10 minutes behind schedule. Roads are snow covered and the snow is limiting visibility. As road conditions get worse, delays may increase. The safety of our customers and bus operators is our priority during the storm.

Metro bus customers can contact the Regional Call Center at (816) 221-0660 to learn where their bus is and if the snow reroute plan is in effect.  Details of the emergency snow reroute plan are available athttp://www.kcata.org.

Customers can track their buses using our live bus-tracking tool, WebWatch, at http://www.kcata.org/maps_schedules/webwatch/. A mobile bus tracker is available at http://www.itsab.us/tracker/.

The Metro’s snow trucks are currently plowing and treating roads throughout the Metro service area.

Share-A-Fare In Phase A

Due to road conditions, the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) has activated Phase A of the Inclement Weather Plan for the Share-A-Fare paratransit service. Many customers may experience delays of 30 to 60 minutes past scheduled pickup times.

Share-A-Fare (SAF) is a transportation program that provides alternate transportation to persons whose disability prevents them from using the regular fixed-route bus service.

Customer questions or cancellations can be directed to the Share-A-Fare office at (816) 842-9070.
