In the fall of 1996 Reva Carr, who had recently retired from the State of Missouri and working at the Chillicothe prison, found she had gotten all the work around her home done and was in need of a rewarding way to spend her new-found time. A friend mentioned a company called OATS, and after Reva spoke to someone at the organization, she decided that was exactly what she wanted to do.

“I enjoy the people I haul and the friends I’ve made down at the senior center. I work part-time and it’s just such an enjoyable job,” says Reva who plans to work one more year as long as her health holds up. She says to those considering joining the OATS team that it is not always an easy job but it is a very rewarding one. “The people I work for and all the people I work with are great.”

In her spare time Reva enjoys taking care of her home and her flowers. Now a widow, Reva is thankful that her 4 children are close by – the farthest living just 40 miles away – and can help her with the house when need be. The close proximity also allows her lots of time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beth Langley, Northwest Regional Director for OATS says “Reva has been a joy to work with. She takes pride in her ability to help others and always has a smile on her face. We have all been entertained by her piano playing and enjoy her helpful nature. It is a pleasure to have her as an employee.”

Reva says she recommends OATS to anyone looking for full- or part-time employment. “I will hate to quit one of these days!”
