OATS, Inc. is pleased to welcome new board member Rebecca Coffman, from Holliday, Missouri, who was sworn in at the monthly board meeting on July 28, 2011.

Rebecca is a retired OATS driver who served for 25 years in Randolph county before retiring in 2008. Due to the recent vacancy left by of Delia Priebe, who had to resign for health reasons, Rebecca was asked to fill the position and happily agreed, having always been very active on the local Randolph County Committee. When Rebecca was asked to serve on the board, she says her thought was that perhaps she could be of service by lending the perspective of a former driver. Rebecca also possesses a passion for OATS and the people OATS helps.

“My love of OATS and desire to help people has driven me all these years to serve. I have a special place for those who need OATS’ services and was glad to give them a way to get out and about.”

Over the years, Rebecca has witnessed many changes at OATS, but says one of the most exciting is the expansion of OATS services and those they are able to assist. “Originally OATS was for seniors and rural people, and now it’s expanded and is able to take the disabled and people of all ages. Anyone who has a need can ride now.”

Married for 53 years this fall, Rebecca and her husband have 3 sons, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She lives on a farm in the small town of Holliday where she grew up, just east of Moberly, and says she loves to travel, read and quilt. Rebecca states she is very fond of the place she grew up and lives.

One more thing Rebecca’s board service will accomplish is keeping her close her OATS friends. “It will help keep me connected to the people I worked with for so long.”
