Joplin Recovery

MPTA Membership –

With the MPTA conference fast approaching, I wanted to take an opportunity to invite each of you to reflect on how fortunate we are to be able to continue our daily routines with little interruption and ask you to consider making a donation to the Joplin recovery efforts, as many individuals and families in the Joplin area continue to struggle with even the simplest of daily tasks.

MPTA, as an organization, will be making a contribution to the Joplin School Supplies for Kids fund to assist students of families who were affected by the May 22 tornado; 100 percent of the funds collected will go toward the project.

I encourage your agency and/or employees to consider making a contribution. MPTA would like to present all of the donations at one time following the MPTA conference, so if you could collect check-only donations and bring them to the Annual Conference, to be held July 31 through August 3, 2011 at the Lodge of Four Seasons, Lake Ozark, Missouri, that would be preferable. In order for your contribution to be a tax deductible donation, the check must be made out to School Supplies for Joplin Kids. You may also want to note that it is a donation in the memo line of the check. MPTA is asking for check donations, but staff will be able to accept cash donations on-site at conference for anyone wishing to make a personal donation. A receipt will be provided to you and all cash donations will be taken to the bank and converted to one cashier’s check to the fund.

The MPTA Board of Directors will be discussing a matching donation at their July 31 Board meeting. The donations will be presented to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks in total, with a letter stating the total contributions from MPTA and its members and listing those making contributions.

If you have any questions, please contact the MPTA Office.
