Northwest Driver Celebrates 15 years with OATS, Inc.

(St. Joseph, Missouri, May 26, 2011) It was 15 years ago this month when Sonya Hill was working in Cameron, MO and getting ready to retire. An old friend and driver for OATS, Inc. suggested Sonya might enjoy working for the company, and in fact, Sonya has now for the past 15 years.

When asked what has kept Sonya with OATS for so long, she credits the family feeling and closeness she feels towards all the associates and clients. “The people you meet are in need. By providing transportation help you get acquainted with them and feel like part of their family.”

Sonya also says she enjoys the company she works for. “Beth (Northwest Regional Director) is a special person, and this is a good company to work for. I worked for a different company for 21 years, but OATS outranks anyone. They are great.”

It is Sonya’s belief that OATS is a good fit for anyone who is friendly, always smiling and wants to have a good job working with the people. She says OATS is an honest company, and those who do their job well and really care will be appreciated. “I’ve met so many wonderful people – never have I met any co-workers I didn’t like. Some of them I've gotten really attached to.”

In her spare time, Sonya enjoys dancing, camping and spending time with her family. “My daughter and her husband and my 10-year-old grandson live in Kansas City, and my grandson is my life.” Sonya says she and her husband, who passed away 2 years ago, would spend winters in Texas visiting family, and that is something she still enjoys doing today.

Beth Langley is pleased to have Sonya as part of her team. “Sonya has been a great asset to the Northwest OATS organization for 15 years. She’s been a Medicaid driver in Clinton, DeKalb, Davies and Caldwell counties. I have enjoyed working with Sonya and can tell she is genuinely caring and compassionate towards our riders. She takes an active interest in her job and doing it well. We hope to have many more years with her.”

Luckily for Beth, Sonya feels the same way. “I plan to stay with OATS as long as I can, as long as I feel good and can be dependable. I really enjoy working for OATS – they are just a great company.”
