From OATS Press Release:
(Bridgeton, Missouri, November 9, 2010) – John Smith, a driver for St. Louis county, began working for OATS, Inc. fifteen years ago. Upon reflection of his employment anniversary, John says, "It doesn’t seem like that long."
When asked why he enjoys working for OATS, John remarks it is the people he works with every day. "I like the people best – my clients," John says. "I really enjoy working with others." He feels that in order to be successful as a driver for OATS, one must possess the ability to get along with people. As such, John has a very successful career.
Before his employment with OATS, John worked at a retail store, where OATS would bring customers on a regular basis. John remembers an exceptionally hot day when the OATS riders were waiting for the bus. "I got a big bucket of water and some cups to give everyone a drink," John explains. "When the driver arrived, he said I should apply to work for OATS. So I did, and I’ve been here ever since."
During his spare time, John loves to work on improving his home. In addition, he enjoys spending time with his two cats and one dog. He says, "They all get along!" John hopes to be with OATS until he retires, which will likely be in another twenty years or so. "They’ve been good to me over the years," says John. "They are good people."
Pam Knox, East Regional Director for OATS says, "Johnny is an excellent driver that cares for his clients. He is very versatile and can/will do anything that is asked of him. He is always telling us how much he loves his job. I have never seen Johnny unhappy; he always has a smile on his face, asking what he can do to help out."
