A couple of interesting tidbits from the latest issue of Passenger Transport Express–former Rep. Ray LaHood (R-IL) was confirmed by unanimous consent of the Senate as Secretary of Transportation on January 22. At his confirmation hearing, he defended the use of infrastructure projects as a component of economic recovery, including those directed toward public transit. Also, results from the 2009 Growth and Transportation Survey show around 80 percent of Americans believe the upcoming economic stimulus bill should fund public transit and other infrastructure projects.
