Obama’s Economic Stimulus and Mass Transit

Our neighbor to the East, the state of Ilinois, may be having governor troubles, but is certainly having no problem attracting ridership on one of its oldest mass transit lines–the South Shore Line, in the Chicago area.  This line has been in operation for 100 years, taking Indiana residents to and from Chicago to work.  Now, it's in desperate need of expansion– mass transit proponents are looking to President-elect Obama's massive public works program to provide that.  For an excellent read on this and what else needs to be done on urban transit funding, check out the article here.
