From May 6, opening day, until July 5, the streetcar has carried 381,914 people along the route. During the month of June, 182,248 people rode the streetcar. On the July 4th weekend, more than 30,000 people got on board. To date, average daily ridership is at 6,365. According to Tom Gerend, executive director of the Kansas City Streetcar, daily ridership was forecasted at about 2,000 riders a day.
The weekends are popular times for families, visitors, residents and downtown explorers. That, coupled with all the events in and around downtown Kansas City, there is much activity in the heart of our city.
